Here we are at the start of another year and there are posts all over the internet about resolutions and new year, new you. We don’t really hold with these, but do review our lives and futures on a regular basis. We tend to do these around our wedding anniversary in September. These are our affirmations, following the idea that positive statements help to overcome negativity, increase confidence and help to visualise practical steps to achieve goals. These cover all the things that we hold dear and where we would like to be within 12 months. It works for us and gives us a chance to reflect, dream and to make plans. Life and events as always have a habit of getting in the way of the best of intentions but we’ll do our best and plans are there as guidelines and not are not strict rules. I don’t think anyone would have had preparations for 2020 so we try to be flexible and to work with situations as they arise.
Apparently, Harold Macmillan’s answer to the question ‘What is likely to blow the government off course’ wasn’t ‘Events, dear boy, events’, but it’s a good quote which is why it is mis-remembered. So lets hope for fewer side swipes of events in 2021.
